New 174 MW thermal power plant commissioned in Khorezm region
A new 174 MW thermal power plant built by the Turkish company Odash Enerji has started supplying electricity in Khorezm region.
The new 174 MW gas engine thermal power plant, built by the Turkish company Odash Enerji in Yangiarik district of Khorezm region, began supplying power to Uzbekistan's unified power grid on 10 March, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.
The plant is designed to generate 1.4 billion kWh of electricity per year. The project cost USD 105 million.
Natural gas savings are estimated at 175 million cubic meters, which will make it possible to generate an additional 800 million kWh and supply electricity to 350,000 homes every year.
This is the third power plant to be commissioned since the beginning of the year. In January, the Turkish energy company Aksa Enerji launched two thermal power plants: a 270 MW plant in Bukhara region and a 240 MW plant in Tashkent region.
In total, as reported earlier, 7 new power plants will be added to Uzbekistan's power system during the year.
